HOLOKAI

HAWAIIAN COLLECTIBLE MENEHUNE DOLLS

Holokai $115.00

Holokai (Sailor)

Birthdate: Kepakemapa 9, 2010 (09/09/10)

Holokai (Sailor) is a little Menehune Keiki Kane (boy). Sailing his Wafakaukahi (Outrigger Canoe) in the gentle breeze of Punalufu Black Sands Beach is Holokaifs greatest pleasure.

Out on the ocean, his spirit connects with the peace and serenity of the Hawaiian waters. Holokai sails to the rhythm of the ocean where he always reaches a place of deep inner stillness. In silence he communicates with nature honoring the divinity in all living things.

Immerse yourself in Holokaifs mana (spiritual energy) of stillness and learn to live every moment of life joyously and to the fullest.

Holokai is about 3.5h tall fitting in the palm of your hand. The body is made out of stretch cotton. The eyes and mouth are intricately embroidered onto the face. Holokai has little hands and feet, ears, buttocks and a belly button.

He wears a brown Tapa design malu (loincloth) which matches his sail and a red crocheted King Kamehameha Helmet with matching shoes. On a calm day Holokai uses his wooden paddle.

Holokaifs Tutu (grandmother) made the Ti Leaf Lei he wears around his neck and tied 4 more Ti leaves to the sail of his canoe. It was Tutufs sacred gift of Aloha (Love) to her grandson. According to ancient Hawaiian beliefs, Ti leaves provide protection from all harm. Surrounded by Ti leaves, Holokai feels save and secure.

Holokai and his Kuku (grandfather) made his Wafakaukahi (Outrigger Canoe) together.

Walking through the forest they started following the native forest bird who selected the tree they would use to build the canoe.

Before cutting the tree, they faced towards the sea and said a prayer of thanks for the wood they would use.

They honored the spirit of the tree by burying a fish beneath it. After Holokai and his Kuku finished carving the Wafakaukahi, they built the sail out of brown Tapa cloth with a canoe design.

Holokai loves to play with his Menehune Kaukinis (cousins), Mano and Panipani at Punalufu Black Sands Beach.

They swim in the ocean, build castles in the black sand, and play races with the black beach crabs until itfs time to go home and eat dinner.
