Ipufs Hawaiian Kukui Nut Lei represents light, hope, and renewal. Her beautiful, long, black hair is adorned with a white Plumeria flower.

Ipu (Drum)Birthdate: Kekemapa 16, 2008 (12/16/08) Ipu is a Menehune Kaikamahine (Girl). She honors the presence of life by chanting and dancing to the sacred rhythm of her Ipu which she is named after.
Ipu is a Menehune Kamalifi Wahine (princess). The green feather leis around her head, wrists, and ankles are made for the Alifi (royalty) and believed to link to the divine.

In the evenings her brother, Kahiki, accompanies Ipu in her chants with his Ukulele. Together they sing about their Aloha Aina (love of the land). All the Menehunes love to listen to them and clap their hands in delight to the music.

The coconut for Ipufs cradle was selected from palm trees at Punalufu Black Sands Beach. It is handcarved, sanded, polished, and fit to a custom made bamboo base. The cradle is surrounded by ruffles. A white Plumeria flower and crystal hang in the center. On each side are two big Lauhala (leaves of the Hawaiian Hala tree) flowers. |

Hawaiian gourds grow on a vine. Ipufs Tutu (grandmother) picked one of the most beautiful ones. She cleaned, polished and decorated it. It was her sacred gift of Aloha (Love) to her Mofopuna (granddaughter) and became Ipufs most treasured possession.. |
