Ho’oli (Healer)

Ho’oli is a Menehune Kaikamahine (Girl). Ho’oli is a healer. She spends her days walking through the mountains collecting herbs, flowers, and mai’as (bananas). Ho’oli puts as much as she can carry into her basket. Then she visits all the Menehunes who are sick or just a little sad. She always has something in her basket to make them feel better.

All the Menehunes are looking forward to Ho’oli’s visits. She is their little Kahuna (magician) who has a cure for all ailments.

Tell Ho’oli about your pains and worries. Let her Healing Mana (spiritual energy) surround you and you will be well on your way to health and happiness.

Ho’oli is a beautiful, gentle little girl with long, black hair tied with a bow to match her dress. She wears a Plumeria flower in her hair and has pink glass bead bracelets around her wrists.

Ho’oli carries her basket wherever she goes. Today she collected Plumeria flowers and Mai’as (Bananas).

The cradle is surrounded by white lace and ruffles. Each side is adorned with one big Lauhala (leaves of the Hawaiian Hala tree) flower.

In the center of her coconut cradle hangs a white Plumeria flower with a small crystal. Ho’oli delights in watching it sparkle in the sunlight.

Ho’oli is about 3.5” tall. Her body is made out of stretch cotton. The eyes and mouth are embroidered onto her face.

 

 

At the end of her long days Ho’oli loves to listen to her sister Ipu’s chants and her brother Kahiki singing and playing his Ukulele.

Her dress and bedding are sewn out of peach, pink, and white colored cotton fabric with a Plumeria flower design.

Ho’oli has a unique personality. Her coconut cradle is signed, dated, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

After dark, Ho’oli closes the curtains of her coconut cradle and falls into a deep, peaceful sleep.

The coconut for Ho’oli’s cradle was selected from palm trees at Punalu’u Black Sands Beach. It is hand carved, sanded, polished, and fit to a custom bamboo base.
