The magic of the shell carries her to secret places of the heart. Mana's chants touch the heart and reach deeply into the ancestor’s world. She honors the Akuas (spirits) of the ‘Aina (land). Mana merges with the spirits of nature. |

In the Aloha (compassion) spirit, the Lōkahi (unity) spirit, and the Pono (righteousness) spirit, Mana's chants honor the Akuas, tell stories about Aumakuas (ancestral guardians), respect for all things and the sacredness of life. |

Mana’s Tutu (grandmother) sewed her blue/green dress. Tutu crocheted green lace panties and matching little shoes for Mana. She adorned the back of Mana’s hair with a fern and shell hair piece. Last Tutu wrapped a shell lei around Mana’s neck. All these things were Tutu’s gifts of Aloha to her beloved Mo’opuna Wahine (granddaughter). |
